Don Johnston Announces New Partnership with Inclusive Technology

Inclusive Technology Ltd has purchased the trade, goodwill, operations, stock and debtors of UK company Don Johnston Special Needs Ltd, for an undisclosed sum. Don Johnston started the UK company 12 years ago to distribute products developed by the U.S. based Don Johnston, Inc.

Don Johnston, Inc., is the leading assistive technology company in the United States. Inclusive has additionally entered into a partnership with them to publish and promote their existing range of products in the UK.

“This new venture is great news for UK customers. It will allow us to offer an even broader range of products and expertise, particularly for learners who have difficulty reading and writing,” said Martin Littler, Chairman of Inclusive Technology.

“Don Johnston has long been known for its experience in supporting learners with dyslexia and for highly popular products like Co:Writer, Write:OutLoud and Read:OutLoud. We can now bring the best possible support to these learners, and at the best possible prices – in spite of dramatic fluctuations in exchange rates.”

From 2nd February 2009 Inclusive will also provide full support for all of the products supplied by Don Johnston Special Needs. Don Johnston staff, Jamie Munro and Andy Ross, will join the team at Inclusive.

Don Johnston founded Don Johnston Inc. in 1980 and did not begin reading until he was 14. His story is documented in his book Building Wings. He said: "I have known Martin Littler for many years and it is a great pleasure to work more closely together. All children deserve the opportunities and experiences that literacy brings and I’m confident this partnership will bring literacy support within reach of more pupils than ever."
